Following the retirement of Fr John Mathes at the end of January 2021 the Parish has been looking and praying for a new Parish Priest.

Now the Archbishop has appointed a new vicar to Christ Church.

The new vicar’s name is Father George Kirreh. Bishop Genieve Blackwell will commission him as Priest-in-Charge here on Thursday 2 December at 7pm. He can be contacted as follows: phone (03)9379 2770; email officeessang@hotmail.com

Fr George joins us most recently from the parish of St Luke’s in Adelaide, where he has been Parish Priest since 2016.

Fr George was born in Jerusalem, and moved to Greece to study at university.  From there he moved to Adelaide in 1994. He undertook theological training at the Adelaide College of Divinity, and was ordained a Deacon at St Peter’s Cathedral, Adelaide in 2007 and as a Priest at St George’s Cathedral, Jerusalem. Since then, he has held ministry roles in parishes overseas in Jerusalem and Jordan, as well as Murray Bridge and Adelaide in South Australia.

Fr George met his wife Faten while studying in Greece, and they have three adult children.

We look forward to welcoming them on the 2nd of December.

Bishop Paul White is minding the Parish as locum until then. Bishop Paul can be contacted on (03) 9379 2770  or  locumpaulwhite@iinet.net.au
