Christ Church Opportunity Shop

Come and check out the gold mine of items available in the CHRIST CHURCH OP SHOP . In October 2023 the Op Shop celebrated 30 years in the current location in the old Church building and in October 2020 the Christ Church Op Shop celebrated 55 years in existence. Well done!

The Op Shop is located on the corner of Mt Alexander Rd and Marco Polo St, Essendon alongside Christ Church Anglican Church. (Melway Page 28 F2)

The normal Op Shop opening hours are:

Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 1.00pm.

There is no provision for customer parking but there is ample on-street parking nearby, and a bus stop adjacent on Mount Alexander Road.

Donations of Goods

The Op Shop welcomes donations of clothing, books and magazines, games, bric-a-brac, chinaware, crystal, CDs / DVDs, pictures, kitchen ware and plastic items.

We cannot accept mattresses, pillows, electrical goods, and furniture, prams and pushers, bike helmets unless brand new.

As well as DONATING MONEY to maintain our church, DONATIONS FROM THE OP SHOP presently or in the past have gone to organisations and community groups such as Anglicare, Anglican Board of Mission (ABM), Anglican Overseas Aid, Bush Church Aid Society, Benetas, Church Missionary Society, National Home Mission Fund, Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, Local Schools, Chaplaincy Committee, Bible Society, ACCESS Ministries, Caroline Chisholm, Save the Children (Breakfast program), Royal Flying Doctors Service, State School Relief, Melbourne City Mission (homework program), North West Region Girl Guides, Yooralla Special School (equipment), PLUS MANY OTHER CHARITIES …..

Christ Church Op Shop is looking for volunteers to assist in its program.  If you have time available and are interested in helping, please visit the shop and ask about the process to get involved. Volunteers are required to apply for a Working with Children Card and a Police Check and a Clearance from Kooyoora – on behalf of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne.
